hey there... I'm using a LiteOn 48.24.48 burner in my 533 G4.. under 10.2.5... since buying the drive (about 2 months ago), burning in iTunes under OSX has been hit or miss... it will always burn an MP3 disk... it will most often burn an audio CD with gaps between tracks (when specified by me)... but it doesn't want to burn a continuous mix - like a live DJ set that has been separated into individual tracks.

I was told to try logging out, then back in again to try to fix the problem.. I did that, and it worked... a few times.... lately though, it just cancels the burn and ejects the disk, giving me an error message...

I'm using quality media, and like I said, data disks and MP3 CDs (made with iTunes) work just fine..

anyone know if there's anything I can do? trash prefs or something? My drive isn't listed in the iTunes compatability list, but under ASP, it says my drive's 'fully supported' for disk burning

thanks for the help : )

I think the iTunes compatibility list on Apple's web sites lists only external devices. If the Apple System Profiler tells you your drive is supported, it should work

Audio CDs without gaps need to get recorded in the disk-at-once mode, maybe just that is broken, it might be something with the device driver or the firmware of your drive. I'd go to their website and see if they have firmware updates and tell what they fix.

If you can, try and replace your drive temporarily with another to exclude other errors and bugs.

You need a third party burning software that supports "Disk at Once" burning (i. e. Toast). iTunes doesn't.

I can get iTunes to burn disk-at-once. The only way I've been able to do it is if I use .wav encoding when I import the songs... If I use the default .mp3 encoding when the songs are imported it will not burn disk-at-once... don't know why, maybe it's because of the higher sample rate of .wav. I haven't tried it with the .aiff encoding.

I successfully burned Danny Elfman's "Nightmare Before Christmas" soundtrack (which is mostly all continuous music) with iTunes.
