Help!

I have tryed everything, permissions repair, reboots, fsck -y.

Even an "Archive and Install"

Once I did the archive and install, I updated to 10.2.5 and now here I am with the same problem, is it 10.2.5? This is a fresh system w/o any hacks or anything else applyed now.

This sounds like something that happened to me recently. You'll probably find that your Services menu is empty as well. It means that pbs (paste board service) is crashing when you log in. If this is what's happening then inside the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter folder will be a file called "pbs.crash.log".

The only way I could fix it was by doing an erase and install and manually copying my prefs over from a backup one at a time. You may want to try creating a new user on the system and see if the problem still occurs when logged in as that user.

Thats it! I have a crash log for PBS. I always liked PBS though... and NPR.... .

ok. so "Erase and install" meaning a reformat right?

Hmmmmm.

Anyone else had this problem and found a way to fix it w/o eraseing? I guess I could wait till my power book comes and back up onto that... But, the sooner I can fix this the better

Thanks for your reply!

Try creating a new user first and see if the problem still occurs for that account. You could probably get away with just migrating prefs across to the new user and then deleting your old account.

Have you tried to delete the cache files in ~/Library/Caches?

Post your crashlog for pbs. That may help. You can also try renaming /Library to something else and then rebooting. Note that this is the Library folder at the root of your hard drive, not in your user folder.

From what you posted, it sounds like when you did the Archive & Install, it fixed the problem, and then you updated to 10.2.5, which broke things again. Is this the case?
