Does anyone have separate partition for their OS X System and for their Apps? Does this affect how fast your Apps run?

Right now I have a 10 gig partition for my MP3s, 10 Gigs for Back up, and 40 gigs for my system/files/Apps. Would it make my Apps run faster to have them in their own partition?

Thanks,
Liz

I used to have seperate partitions, but now I have it all in one partition. I just didn't see the point in doing that, except that I was wasting space.

Stink different.

I used to partition all my drives and I've gone back to just one. As stew says, it just wastes space. I'd leave my apps in the Applications folder, if for no other reason than that's where the OS expects them to be. Some upgrades won't run if the app isn't there (I remember folks having trouble updating Illustrator a while back) and Software Update won't show you updates unless it sees the app (for example, last week's release of Safari).

I thought if you had your apps installed somewhere else, it would keep saying they were available for download?
