Just thought I'd share, last fall I decided to build an MP3 server out of an old PowerCenter Pro (the first computer I ever owned, i love it still, the L2 cache blew away Apple's 7200). Anyway, after some research, I ending up using Ryan Rempels fantastic program, xPostFacto, to allow it to boot OSX. So now that I had it booted into OSX, I needed a way to get a big drive in there, so I upgraded to a 120GB IBM Deskstar in my FW enclosure and decided to use the 60GB drive that came out of the enclosure in the PowerCenter. This was all fine and dandy until i realized that the PowerCenter didn't have IDE on the motherboard, only SCSI. So I bought a Sonnet Tempo ATA card, and plugged it in the PCI slot, hooked the drive up it, added some spare RAM i had from some old 7200's and booted it up.

I POUND on this thing from about 5 different computers everyday, mainly for listening to Mp3's, but also for archiving software, etc... It's been up for 100 days without a hitch.

While i run 10.2.5 on my iBook, I still believe 10.1.5 was the most stable OS I've ever run. OS 8.6 was also good, but not in the same league as X.

Mighty impressive! I find it's not the crashing that cuts my uptime short, but booting into OS 9 or shutting the computer down.

I'm still waiting for version 3 of XPostFacto that is supposed to support my StarMax.

I have a 233Mhz Powerbook G3 Wallstreet thats been upgraded to a 500Mhz G3 with 512mb of RAM that just finished a run of 290 days with 10.1.5. I finally had to reboot because after about the mark where you are at apps start booting up slower and slower no matter how many times you log out. Got to be too much for me.
