Have you tried to connect to an FTP server in safari? It mounts straight to the desktop. Now that is cool.

Ya I really don't like this feature...it drives me to other browsers for FTp because there I at least know it'll work.

Yeah, I noticed that too. The first time I tried to do FTP with Safari, I logged in more than once because I didn't notice the server loading in the Finder, and it looked like Safari wasn't doing anything.

Yup, i loaded the same FTP server about 6 times without realising what safari was doing - apple should make it a lot mor obvious whats happening

All FTP stuff gets redirected to OmniWeb. How do I get FTP servers to mount on the deskop instead?

This feature is annoying-as-hell. If I wanted to FTP in the Finder, I would use Command-K to do so.

It is perfectly reasonable.

Safari for WEB protocols.
Finder for FILE protocols.

Simple as that.
In vino veritas.

Not when the defined standard is for web browsers to connect to FTP servers.

Plus, it's damn annoying when you click on a link which happens to be several directories deep, and you end up with a root level icon on the desktop.

Admittedly, the can be searched as normal volumes, but it's damn slow.

Another cool feature is that if you hold the shift key, it will scroll sideways with the scrollwheel.

This used to hang my Finder until I opened up the ftp firewall ports.
