Is there any way to share a 'Net connection in this fashion via USB modem?

Hey, guys. I'm heading over to my GF's today, and since her service aand crappy USB modem don't work with OS X, I was wondering if it was possible to share the connection from her machine to mine. Her iMac is in OS 9 with the USB DSL model connected (my Power Mac would be in OS X), and our machines would be linked via crossover cable (do a little gaming and stuff). Just curious. It'd be a nice help. Thanks for any help, guys.

Ooh, here's another quick question that maybe someone will know. She has DSL at her house, and I have Earthlink DSL here. Would it be possible to take my model over there and use my Earthlink service through her line? Or are services specific to the house that the line is coming into. Thanks again.

I'm pretty sure DSL and cable services are specific to each land line.
You might be able to do this with IPNetRouter. I used to use it back in the day to share my brother's iMac's built-in 56K modem over a LAN.

Sadly DSL is specific to the house you've ordered it from, it's tied to your phone number IIRC.
I used to have a USB modem from BT ( useless) but it worked ok in X. Whats the problem?

Well, the damn thing just won't work. Installed the drivers many times, done reinstalls and tried different techniques of actually installing the drivers through suggestions here. It's an evil Alcatel USB modem. Then someone said that the drivers only worked for users in the UK with the modem, yadda yadda. There've been quite a few threads on the evil that is the Alcatel USB DSL modem. We haven't tried since th past few OS X updates, so maybe we'll give it another go today. She's wiping her iMac and starting fresh anyway.

Yeah, IPNetRouter should work perfectly. That's what I use now.
If you need a hand with it...

I've got a spare one in the basement if you want me to mail it to you.
Biggest piece of rubbish Alcatel ever came up with. There are proper, and much better, replacements available on the open market, you knew that right?
