Hello

I helped one of my folks upgrade to a new G4 with OS X and installed Office X, Eudora, Adobe products (all OS X compatible versions). This guy keeps crashing his new G4 at least once a day working mostly in Word and with his Eudora email. The G4 has 756mb memory. I have applied all the appropriate patches however it just makes no sense the constant instability. Below are some of the major issues but I was wondering if there were others having the same problems? Thanks for any feedback or suggestions.

1. Office X Quits
Regardless of whether its a new or old document, the application will just quit and a restart will restore some stability until it quits again (happens with word or powerpoint and rebuilding preference file does not always fix it).

2. Eudora v5.2
Was wondering if any one has experience with this email application (particularly working with attachments) under OS X and if they experienced problems.

3. Energy Saver in OS 10.2.4
The computer does not come back from sleep mode. Often times it requires a restart after a weekend even when set to never sleep. Anyone else having this issue?

Welcome to the forum

I don't know about the other issues, but the sleep 'bug' is a bit of a 10.2.4 thing...

If you search the forum, you will see lots and lots of other 10.2.4 (and 10.2.5) problems...

I have kept all my Macs at 10.2.3, as I have found it the best release on my dual 867 machine in terms of stability. I doubt I'll upgrade until 10.3 hits the streets. (Unless some really compelling features are released in a point release...which I doubt will happen!)

I would suggest a reinstall of OS X back to 10.2.3 and see if the problems still occur... I suspect that they may improve at least a little.

Peace,

Marc

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try.
