I was recently frustrated by being able to share a net connection between our G4 to an iMac via Airport, but not vice versa. I recently (about 10 min ago ) realised that it was because I had the Firewall turned on on the iMac.
My question is what port is OS X sharing the net connection, so I can set it as an exception in the sharing pane and turn the Firewall back on.
Any help appreciated

it doesn't run on any particular port, what it does is that it routes the incoming data from the Internet, on any given port, to a computer in your LAN.

It uses them all
It just passes the data on. Make sure you allow traffic on port 80 of both machines and you should be fine..
Turn the firewall completely off on the iMac and then block any ports you don't need on the G4.
You don't need two firewalls trying to block the same traffic.

Actually if you look in The Sharing Panel/ Firewall it will tell you what ports if is using right there.

I think you're thinking of Web sharing - which uses Port 80 - standard HTTP.
The 'internet' as it were - uses all ports.

Hmmmmmm ok thanks. I thought there might have been something more elegant than just turning firewall on and off, ah well.
