Can someone explain the sorry state of the color palette in the "Painting" portion of AppleWorks? Is there no way to enter RGB numerals? Is there no way to get an exact color?

It seems that the only (very crude) way to get any kind of color selection is to use the 'tint' button incessantly. Micro$oft'$ simple little Paint program that comes with Window$ allows you to enter RGB numbers to get an exact color. What is the deal with AppleWorks? Can someone enlighten me?

This is the only problem that has ever frustrated me with the Mac. I grind my teeth all the time wondering why there is not a simple way to get an exact color. I consider this to fall under 'multimedia', so I'm beginning to think that Micro$oft is the computer multimedia king. I hope I'm wrong!

If any UNIX nerds know the answer, I will gladly accept it from you too.

Figured it out with some help.

Under the 'Window' menu open the "Accents" window.

Double click on a color other than the white one.

It brings up the "Color" window that allows you to fine tune colors!!!

I don't think that AppleWorks should really be used to judge the multimedia prowess of the operating system.

If you open up an application that uses the standard OS X color picker (be it carbon or cocoa), you get a variety of options, including the option to enter RGB, CMYK, HSB or grayscale percentage values, a color wheel, an image palette in which you can load any image (from file or clipboard) to pick a colour from, a list of colors (with search facility and ability to easily create your own lists) and a consumer friendly "crayon palette". You also get to use the magnifying glass to select the colour of any item on screen at the time and can save multiple "favorite" colors in the repository at the bottom of the window.

If AppleWorks would only make use of it...
PM G4 DP 500 MHz, 768 Mb, DVD-ROM, 85 Gb, Mac OS X 10.3.9
PB G4 1.25 GHz, 512 Mb, DVD-R, 80 Gb, Mac OS X 10.4

But it does make use of it don't you SEE! Open the "Accents" window in the "Window" menu. DOUBLE CLICK on one of the colors EXCEPT WHITE, then the COLOR PALLETE OPENS!!!!!!!
