One of my parents just updated their Airport Software via the recently released update in Software Update. Upon restarting that computer after the update, they no longer were able to detect the signal from the base station (an older, non-Airport Extreme model). I don't use Airport Networking myself, so it was all the more difficult and frustrating to help troubleshoot over the telephone.

The Airport setting in the Network Preferences was unable to locate their defined network, upon launching the Airport Setup Assistant no base station could be located, and I made certain that Airport was turned on for that computer via the Internet Connect application. On the other computers, which did not receive the update, nothing had changed. They were able to establish an internet connection just as they had before. Seeing, as there isn't much documentation on exactly what components of Airport were updated, I didn't know exactly how to restore wireless networking to this particular computer. I was able to lead them through resetting the base station and creating a new network by using one of the other computers, but still I could not get the computer causing trouble to see the base station.

Has anyone else experienced this with this most recent update? Does anyone have any further suggestions on how to remedy the situation? Any help would be appreciated. If you need any further information, feel free to ask.

Thanks,

Neo.cmg
