Yesterday I updated OS X to 10.2.5

Now my Ti 500 doesn't see the Airport anymore. It started to slowly go away: first the reception was getting worse, and now it's completely gone.

However, my good old iMac which is connected via ethernet cable, still gets internet connection, and I'm able to administer the base station with it.

I opened my TiBook to check if the antenna cable would have been loose (due to traveling) but that is not the case.

I looked at www.maxfixit.com, but they only report of USB problems, nothing mentioned about Airport.

Does anyone knows about a solution?

I don't think anyone else has reported this problem. You check into the base station?

Well, as I said, I can administer teh base station. But I haven't changed anything since I left the building (two weeks ago). The only thing what changed is updating to 10.2.5 and downloaded the Aiport update. That sounds suspicious to me, but I cannot find anyone else having this problem stated, so that's why I posted it here.

Base station seems to function well as I can use the ethernet bridging to my iMac, but have no idea furthermore.

Apple helpdesk opens at 10 am here in Europe, so 15 minutes left. Problem is they often know less than some of us...

As said, they often do not know that much...

As I find out myself, the update to Airport Admin Utility 3.0.4 did distroy the ability to see the base station.
On a external disk where 10.2.4 was running, it worked fine. After update to 10.2.5 it still runs fine. I did not, however, downloaded the stated update for Airport. I know it says it's for Extreme, but it doesn't say it is NOT for gray ABS.

Have reported it to Apple, and have sent a feedback as well. Now comes the annoying part of figuring out how to move back to the former state of my TiBook.

CharlesSoft? Carbon Copy Cloner? ANyone?

I deleted everything Airport via Root, yes, know that is not the smartest move probably...

Finally found the solution after a day of fiddling with it.

I had to restart the ABS, even though I did reset and restart the ABS by switching it off.

It works now as before.

Having same problem with two airported iMacs seeing base station. Did you do a hard or soft reset. Soft reset does nothing. Signal icon still gray.

I did a hard reset (paperclip) method :-) ) but that didn't work.
I did a soft reset (Airport Admin Utility) and that did the trick (don't ask me why :-( )

Since you do not "see" the the ABS you have to connect directly with a ethernet cable.

I don't know if this belongs in Mac OS X-forum or in Network-forum: first thought it was due to the 10.2.5-update, but I think it's not actually.

Mind that some ABS fail after a while due to antenna loosening inside, you can find more about these disasters in the Network-forum...
