I am hoping someone out there can relate and even help me out here.

I've got many .mwv, .asx, .avi, .asf files on my PC and have copied them to my PowerBook. All these files have the appropriate associated icon/program attached to them (Windows Media Player * QuickTime), and these programs launch when I go to open up these files. But when trying to play these files, either I get an error message or the screen is blank and only sound come out?

WMP is playing sound but not viewing video and QT is giving me errors saying that 'Software is needed, but sorry, it's not located on our server'.

Am I not able to view all my collected video files on my Mac? If WMP and or QT can't handle them, are there other apps that can? Don't care if they aren't free apps, I just want to be able to see my 3GB of multimedia files on the run and my PowerBook is my portable computer.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for those suggestions. I just downloaded and tried both apps and they are behaving the same way as WMP and QT. Sound comes out, but no video.

I really hope I am not this limited on the PowerBook and there is a program out there that will plae these files.

Have you tried the divx codec? That might allow you to play some of those files.

Or you could use 3ivx, which plays back DivX too.
