I was pretty high on iTunes4- Rendezvous was working great, the store was good to browse, AAC is going to get more music on my iPod. So I got sucked up in the moment, and decided to try out the store with Paul Simon's Graceland at my wife's request.

I click, I pay, I download. Here it is. Cool. Now I want to burn it so she can take it to work.

Erm... that's odd. I read the terms:
You shall be entitled to export, burn or copy Products solely for personal, noncommercial use.
http://www.info.apple.com/usen/musicstore/terms.html

Yeah, that's my intent.
Okay, so I go back to www.apple.com. Hey, look, right here on the front page. The scoop on the Music Store. What do I see here?

"Burn music to CDs for personal use." No, not for me...

So... any ideas what's going on here? I'm a little dissapointed.

Ah. Figured it out.

What Apple really meant to say is
"You can't burn your AAC content to an mp3 formatted CD. You may however burn an Audio CD. The burned disc format is selected under Preferences: Burn Disc."

We could use alert boxes that tell us WHY something is wrong and what to do about it instead of plain "I can't do that, Dave".

I think it is possible to burn them to a data cd... but it would be relatively pointless except for backup purposes.

AAC files you get from the music service are keyed in with your Apple ID and your name, and will not play on a computer that doesn't have that same Apple ID associated with it... i have yet to try it, though...
