It's so wierd but lately I've been having this anoying problem everytime I try to watch any of Apple's streaming videos over the internet.

Examples:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/mwsf03/
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/specialmusicevent/

Here's what happens when I press the "Watch Now" button on those webpages:
1. Quicktime opens up
2. My DSL connection speed goes up while the movie is buffered for about 3 secs.
3. Movie starts playing and freezes after no more than 1 sec playing
4. At the same time my CPU usage goes to the top: 100% and stays there!
5. I end up Force Quiting Quicktime, the rest of the OS is intact.

Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this? Please help!

Notes:
-My Transport Setting for Quicktime is HTTP, port 80
-I have all the latest software updates from Apple, including the latest Quicktime!
-By the way, i didn't have this problem before, as I was able to watch the MWSF keynote in January.

System:
Mac OS X 10.2.5
iMac 400 SE
512MB RAM
40GB 7200 HD (16GB free)
512kbps DSL
Quicktime 6.2

THANKS!!!

No help from here, but I found out the source of the problem. It's the 3ivx plugin for Quicktime... It get's in the way when Quicktime opens a MPEG-4 stream.

Cheers

Seems like so many of the problems users find are caused by 3rd party hardware or software.

Lesson is, try removing your plug-ins or periphials when in trouble. Thanks for posting your solution, Stack.
