A bit archaic, but I've been going through my 25GB collection and doing the following:
Stuff I archive for removal from my collection I leave in the directory structure with a (CD) tag to indicate that the files are available on CD/removable media.
Stuff I'm just backing up for backup's sake I add an "*" to the end of the album/artist name in the ID tag. I just drag stuff as I want to Toast's window and keep an eye on the megabyte indicator.
Thus, with a reasonably easy single glance, I know what is new, backed up, or archived.
This works particularly well in conjunction with the
Andromeda script for sharing out details (but not content ;-) ) of your MP3 collection to friends.
Hope that makes sense.
Cheers.

I currently have 10.89 GB of mp3s.
It becomes a horrible problem trying to split them into CD sized portions (it should created about 14 discs worth) Is there a utility or tool that will work for me? Is there a good way to do this with toast?
I just want to make sure everything gets backed up without overlapping files by simple drag and drop operations in the finder.
Any Suggestions?
