Hi all. I sure hope someone can help. Here's the deal:
I've just replaced my 10bt hub with a 100bt one so that I any computer on the network can watch movies and television shows I have saved on my G4. Initial tests reveal that the speed is just fine and the movies stream well.
However...I keep my video on a couple of external hard drives (one FW, one internal), and so when I log in from my 2K machine, I can't access them. Is there any way that I can access these volumes from the 2K machine?
Second, I'm running into a problem where the contents of folders aren't being updates on the 2K machine. Is this a problem is OS X or with 2K?
Thanks in advance!

Folders on the 2K machines are not being updated when accessing from OS X or vice-versa? In the first case, this is a known issue. There's an active thread about this somewhere. Some people click the desktop and then the window, others relaunch the Finder, I create a new folder and the window updates. The other way around, pressing F5 should do the trick.

Folders on the OS X machine, when viewed from the 2K machine, don't reflect updated content. In other words, if I stick a file in a folder on my Mac, my PC doesn't see the new file. Refreshing the window doesn't change anything.
Any ideas?

I'm not super familiar with 2K, but isn't there an option to install AppleTalk networking? Maybe it'd work better through that than Samba.

Ok. So I've installed Sharepoints on the Mac, and now I can *see* the shares I need, but their contents don't show up when viewed from the PC. I can see the volumes and the folders contained on them, but NONE of the files within the folders.
Any help?

Have you got any special characters in the filenames? I had a folder full of MP3s with Japanese filenames and none of them would show up on my Windows XP machine.

Hmmm...There ARE em dashes and periods.

That did the trick! A Better Finder Rename turned all the em dashes to periods, and now all of my media is available. Streams BEAUTIFULLY to my wife's PC.
Woot!
