hi all
i have had my 17" 1Ghz, imac, 256meg ram, running MAC OS X 10.2.5
for about a month now, and i have run into a few problems. but now it is just getting a wee bit frustrating.

A few weeks back my print center mucked me around, but it seemed to fix itself BUT.

At the moment "preview" won't open any pictures and will crash, i have to force Quit it.

VLC will open the sound of a divX file, not the video ( it used to run fine) and then crash

has any one had this problem? I have restarted many times, but it doesn't seem to work!
I have no idea what to do because i am not used to mac, and i can't find an Alt control del any where!

Any suggestions???

is there another JPEG previewer i can get? (without spending $$$$)

Cheers all.

1) Trash Preview's preferences ( in yourhomefolder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Preview.plist) and vlc's preferences.

2) Put the OS X CD into the CD-ROm drive, reboot with holding down the C key down. When the OS X Installer comes up, select the Disk Utility from the Installer menu. Repair the voluem with Disk First Aid until it says the drive appears to be OK.

3) Boot into OS X again. Repair Permissions with Disk First Aid in the Disk Utility.

4) Make sure you have enough free hard disk space (2 GB minimum).

5) Create a new user, and see if you experience the same problems in a new user account.

6) Did you install QuickTime 6.2 recently? Get the standalone installer and install it again.

Report back with results.

Force quit is the Mac equivalent of control-alt-delete. Some things to try:

Start up off the OSX install disk and run the disk repair tool (it's in one of the menus)

Repair permissions (also in the disk utility)
