When I insert a blank CD-RW into my iMac (slot-loading, 600MHz, 384MB RAM with OSX 10.2.5) the usual dialog comes up asking what to do with the blank CD, if I choose "open Finder" and then click OK, it simply ejects the CD and gives an error:

------------------------------------------------------------
The operation could not be completed.

An unexpected error occurred (error code -43).
------------------------------------------------------------

I don't have Toast and I am not going to buy it, I suppose I could make a disk image of all my files and then try Disk Copy but that is hassle, I want to do it the usual way. These are new CD-RWs made by Packard Bell; 80min / 700mb capacity; 4x-10x compatible.

(When I insert a blank CD-R it works and the CD appears on the Desktop as usual...)

any ideas??

IIRC, -43 means "file not found". The Finder could be looking for something to handle the CD-R/W and can't find it.

Have you tried other brands of CD-RWs? 4-10x seems weird to me. I've only seen regular (1-4x) and high speed (8-10x) CD-RW media before.
