Hello,

I have been using a loaner iBook running OSX 10.2.5 for a few weeks now and I have had no trouble getting to my company email (until today) which is accessed via a browser, Outlook Web Access or OWA, which in turn connects me to an Exchange Server. I have used it at home and at customer sites that have firewalls, no problem.

Today I am beginning to work at a new company and I can't get to my email. My co-worker, in the same cube has an IBM laptop running Windows 2000 and he can get to email fine using his IE web browser.

I have setup my web browser to use the proper proxy server for port 80. I have no problem accessing normal web pages. I have tried IE, Safari, and Camino.

Is there something that treats my iBook differently when accessing secure (HTTPS) sites?

Thanks,

Mike

Just as an aside...

Safari currently doesn't support HTTPS proxies, so it won't be much help.

Remember to setup the proxy as a "Secure" proxy in System Preferences -> Network -> Proxies, and also remember that IE appears to use it's own proxy setting sometimes, or at least not take any notice of System Preferences for various different settings, so check it's settings in IE's preferences. Camino shouldn't have this problem.

Yes some proxies and/or your WOA does browser sniffing and based on that does not send the same files (send .Zip, .jar or .cab for java stuff). Thoses files are filtered by the proxy and may not pass thru it.

Where I work we could access our page from witing Mozilla but not ie, because the file sent by our domino server was different, and the extension was filtered.

Based on my experience using https, prevents proxy sniffing, are you sure IE is using the proper sniffing ?
are you sure the proxy for secure is the same has for non secure connections ?
