Here is one for you to try and figure out. I was bringing my G4 cube up to OS X.2 last night and something weird happened.

After installing I booted up and it walked me through the X process of picking Username/Password all the normal stuff. It then finished and brought me to the desktop and eveything was fine. Had my airport card had network connectivity through Built in Ethernet, life was good.

Then it ran software update by itself and had 9 updates to install. Imovie, Iphoto, Itunes, OS 10.2.5 and a couple smaller ones. I clicked install against my better judgement. Something told me I should bring it up to 10.2.5 first but too late. So I came back to find that it had not installed 1 update. That one update being 10.2.5

Anyway to make a long story short, I rebooted fully expecting to run software pdate and get 10.2.5 but now it has lost network connectivity and doesn't recognize my airport card. I have it connected straight to the cable modem and after looking in the Network tab all I have is the Internal Modem choices no matter which selection I make, Built In Ethernet, Airport!!! Any thoughts????

And how can I reinstall X successfully if I need to?

Thanks,
Ed

I'd backup your apps and users first, then do an "archive and install" of 10.2 from the CD.

Archive and install saves your apps and users, while replacing the OS. But backup, just to be safe.

Then try the upgrade again.
