Well Teléfonica delivered my ADSL Router, which is a Thomson/Alcatel Speed Touch 510 4-port router. The problem I am having is that the supplied CD w/ the wisard that finds and configures the router on you network is Windows only, hence there is no easy way of configuring the router in OS X. I know a lot of ADSL providers in the UK use this rounter and people have some experience with it. Any help would be appreciated.

You could try the instructions at the following site:

http://www.limemusic.com/adsl/

They are for a UK setup but might be of some help to you.

Also check out ADSL Guide, this is a really good site and has lots of helpful information. If you can't find info on the main site check out their forums as they have a Mac section.

I've looked there and now have a general idea of how to configure it. ADSL Guide´s script will be of little use to me, but Teléfonica CD contains 4 configuration scripts. The only problem is that these people use PPPoE (I quickly skimmed the manual + WinPOET is included on the CD), hence configuration will be a little more comlicated then simple DHCP config. There is no mention of a username/password anywhere in the included documentation + my Spanish is not very good at all. Anyways, I guess I am looking at a fun evening getting the router working and then AirPort on top of that.

I have a 510 router, but don't use it at present as I've moved to an area without ADSL

Anyway, I always used www.zeninternet.co.uk who produced a specific manual and setup guide on their site... you should be able to adapt it to your needs. They also supply a customer configurable setup download that can be uploaded to the router...

Well worth a look...

Peace,

Marc

Spent a few hours trying to get the whole thing to work. Connected the ST510 to the PB, went to 10.0.0.138 and uploaded one of the configuration files from the CD (tried all four in the end) ... tried connecting it through the AirPort BS (one of the ini setups kept resetting the AirPort BS) ... tried running the setup of the modem through VPC (which worked) ... but in the end I still failed miserably to get on the internet, my ISP (Telefónica, España) are morons. The manual is an incomprehensible POS (not because it is in Spanish (a language I struggle to understand), but because the order of things described is moronic! I started setting the whole thing up w/o reading it, of course, and assumed that the whole thing worked through DHCP (like my Cable provider in the US) ... but when I finally read the manual (or tried to) I found out that they use PPPoE ... so I started looking for my IP/usernam/password in the box, but could not find it ... after svearing profusely at the modem, Telefónica and random objects ... I gave up and went to bed. Will call them today and ask for the information that I needed in the first place
