I am kind of confused.

This whole Rendezvous thing seems great.

I have two printers, an Epson laser and an HP deskjet.

I have tried hooking them both up to my Airport Extreme Base station via USB and then sending print jobs to them from my Powerbook.

The HP printer works fine.

When I try to send something to the Epson, even though it shows up as a Rendezvous available printer, the second I try to add it, I get the beach ball and Print Center hangs.

I am thinking this is an Epson driver issue, since I have never had trouble with OS X recognizing the HP, but I am not totally sure.

Also, is there a way to hook up BOTH printers at the same time to the Airport Base?

Also, does anyone know where the heck these wireless Rendezvouz printers are? I have searched various printer manufacturer websites for the term Rendezvous and can't find anything. Is anybody shipping a "rendezvous" printer yet that works with OS X?

Thanks!

Actually,

I just tried printing to the Epson again.

For example, in Mail, I try to print an email.

I select print, and down comes the print sheet.

The Epson shows up as an available printer, but there is also a Rendezvous option, and it shows up there too.

So I select Rendezvous and then select the Epson and then Mail gets the beach ball.

What is going on?

Maybe you should look for "zeroconf" enabled printers instead of "Rendezvous" which is Apple's marketing name for zeroconf. Keep in mind that rendezvous enabled printers will be IP networked printers and not USB ones...

short answer: yes. several printers available now from major manufacturers. some new hp laserjet 4100's we got in have this featured turned on by default. creates a *major* issue in a controlled-network printing environment.

you need to look for an option (with hp at least) called "mDNS". this is the option that enables rendezvous macs to detect the printer automatically.
