Umm, if software discussion goes in the software forum, doesn't that mean there is no need for an OS X forum??? As OS X is software in itself???

Let's have a little reading comprehension test:

Mac OS X
Discussion, support and speculation relating to the Mac OS X operating system. Topics about applications (including Apple's applications such as iTunes, iMovie, iPhoto, Final Cut, AppleWorks, etc.) belong in the Software forum.

Software
Discussion and support of applications for Mac OS X and the Classic Mac OS (including those made by Apple).
Is there still any ambiguity in your mind as to what goes where?

C'mon, people. This really isn't rocket science. Anybody who can read at a third grade level can figure this out.

why do we even CARE?

Personally, I bet everyone who is interested in "Mac OS X" is also interested in iTunes, iCal et al...

I guess the mods just like playing cop games.

It just seems to me to be a really fine line at times... It can be difficult to always know for sure... Some times files in /Applications/ can have a direct effect on Mac OS X as a whole... Both from an interface stand point and from a bleeding bug stand point...

You're right.

In fact since everything happens on the Planet Earth, we should have one big Earth forum.

Set it up, 'Hood!

Actually it doesn't usually happen on the planet, as my computer has never physically rested on the planet... The closest it's ever come is on the carpet...

We have a category called "software" with many objects (e.g. finder, dock, bsd sub system, itunes, ical, appleworks). All the essential parts of macosx (finder, dock, print center etc.) are part of macosx. All other software is part of software.

We are talking in this forum about macosx.
All non essential macosx software (e.g. iCal, iTunes, but also Stickies) go to the software forum.

That's how I understand it.

Just a thought, what if, say, iTunes crashed and corrupted some information on your HD? Or something remotly symiler???

I dunno, I guess I just feel some software should fit into the catagory... It seems like a pain to me to have to jump from one forum to another when they seem so symiler...

Think of this, if this were a windows related BB, would you have one topic for Windows XP and one for IE??? They are seprate yet intertwined...

In the same manner that apple's whole digital hub thing tie in so closely with OS X... Also programs like Backup are seperate software, but one purpose direclty relates to OS X & backing up essential data...

I dunno, I guess I'm ramblilng on pointlessly at this point, so I'll stop...
