Although I cannot condemn Microsoft from wanting to make Windows more like OS X, I still get a laugh at Windows loyalists reactions to blatent OS X ripoffs. For example, Microsoft's next operating system Longhorn, due mid 2005, is going to emplement a Quartz Extreme 'esc hardware GUI excellaration:

And the Winders users are going 'goga' for it. I can't blame them, allowing the GPU to do the graphical computations is a no-brainer, so bringning this support to a platform is instinctive and exciting, esspecially when migrating from a software based ( Direct X ) solution. I just find it funny to read the Windows messege boards, and how excited the Windows community is about the "Features" of Longhorn, esspecially since this same "Feature" has been prevelent in OS X since day one.
The video posted above is actually pretty funny, it shows a calculator moving about in a very "Genie Effect" fasion -- although the amount at which it is gyrating all over the screen is...well, retarded and desctractive. That's one of my largest complaints with Windows, and one of the best things I noticed about OS X, Windows treats the user as a child, with their retarded dog that asks you what you want to search for, to that god damn paper clip ( Clippy ) to the blue-gastic cartoon-esc style of the OS...this calculator dancing all over the screen is just more of the same thing, it's really quite patronizing. Anyways, if you have an itch for technology, I'm sure you're keeping one ear on Longhorn, and I'm sure you're already aware of all the simularities between Microsoft's
next-gen OS, and Apple's current OS.
If you're interested in making yourself sick by looking at some screenshots of Longhorn, or if you would like to have a good laugh at dancing calculators and windows, clicky below:
