Is there any way to make a mac use a CD burner in a second computer, namely the Linux box sitting next to my powerbook.

I would like to natively burn cd and at the moment just create a blank image, fill it up, transfer it across and use cdrecord on the image.

Is there a more elegant way?

yeah compile and install cdrtools and burn it natively on your mac with cdrecord.
or you could probably use scp and ssh to transfer the image then burn it on your linux box.
i use mkisofs and cdrecord without a problem on my powerbook.
