i just installed the - excellent - Red Pill screensaver today and a question came to my mind that I wasn't able to answer myself:

there are a lot of cool Open GL savers out there, that do a wonderful job in saving your screens but not your processor, videocard or - come to that - energy.

now if i have such a saver active and after 20 minutes my screen energy saver settings kick in and the screen goes to sleep, is the screen saver still active and using up processor time and energy - or does the sleep mode of the screen terminate all saver activity also?

answers greatly appreciated.

In the energy saver panel you can set the screen to turn off before your system goes properly into sleep. If your system actually goes to sleep, the screen saver won't be 'running' on your videocard/processor. If, though, you've set this option in the energysaver panel, your processor might still be ticking over for a little while before your system actually goes to sleep properly.
