/private/etc/httpd/

You don't have this file or you haven't used Command-F before?

I have already tried a search (Command-F) several times for "httpd.conf" and I find nothing.

Web sharing is working fine, so why can't I find this file?

Same thing.

/etc is actually as symlink to /private/etc so both end up in the same place.
