I just downloaded the demo version for Unreal Tournament 2003... I've currently got a DP533 digital audio mac with 1.5GB ram and a Ti4600 video card....

Question 1: Will upgrading my processors give a noticeable boost in performance? I know that the Quake 3 engine is openGL but is processor biased in that it results in higher framerates upgrading the cpu vs. the video card... in other words, the video card upgrade will give better performance but not as much as boosting the cpu mhz count in relativity.

Question 2: Does anybody know if the online gaming engine's security hole that has discovered a few months ago apply to the Mac version... and if so, has it been patched?

This belongs in the software forum, not OS X.

even then it's a mac game so it belongs in there.

1) UT2K3 appears to be more CPU bond then GPU bound for me (dual 1Ghz, GF4Ti)

2) I don't know, but I'll guess so...

a.) It's not Quake 3-engined game, it's an Unreal-engine game, and yes, Unreal-engine games tend to be more CPU-bound than Q3-engine games...and your processor sounds like the weak point, so upgrading it would theoretically result in the most 'bang for your buck'.

b.) I'm not familiar with this flaw in online gaming...can you link to it?

That's the only thing I can find for now... there was an article on either macslash or slashdot that covered it a few months back...
