Does anyone know where I can get new animations for the "poof" in the dock?
when you drag an application out of the dock, it "poofs" in smoke ....

yeah but the top ones are pretty bad. Unless your whole system is in leopard skin mode then it will look totally out of place

In Panther, the poof has been replaced with the icon spinning down out of view, although strangly the .menu extras still have the poof. in the version I am using, I dont think you will be able to alter it in Panther like you can with 10.1 and 10.2.

I don't believe it. Let's see a screenshot.

Can't Skin-A-Dock do this? I've never actually used it, but I think I remember seeing that while putzing around in there...

I hope they don't get rid of the Poof, I like the Poof.
I liked Lotus Organizers trash can, when you put something in it, it burst into flames!
aah, the good old days…

Only the poof from the dock has gone, it looks much better, in fact it looks like more poofs have been added to other parts of the system.
Also when you close a minimised window in the dock it also spins down out of view (same as dragging it of).
Items dragged into the dock also resize while you are holding them, instead of waiting till you drop it in the dock, this is very cool.

In OS9 there was a little monster that lived in the trash can, when you dragged somthing to it it jumped out and sang a song

Umm, I'm certainly not complaining about the information on Panther, but I'm wondering where you got it and if you should actually be telling us!
(ducks to avoid flames from nosey people! )

I've heard about this before I think. How would one go about getting Oscar to appear? (This will give me a reason to boot into 9 )

i'm pretty sure you had to install a system extension. i don't think it was an os easter egg. maybe i'm wrong though.

If there was a Zelda-esque poof that would be really cool...

Grouch was a system extension. I can't
remember it working under anything greater
than 7.6. I use to have it on a classic
running 7.0 and he would sing some thing
like this
I love trash
or
I love it because it's trash
Actually I think it did work on Mac OS8.0 because I remember seeing it in colour (He
was green) on my Performa 580 CD. But then
again I might just have been looking at it
using resedit

Or if you have a Graphics program just edit the original poof...search for 'toolbarpoof' save the original just in case and edit to the same size as the contained 4 images..I did it no problem and I can make my poof anything I want.
