Seeing as how the other thread on 10.2.6 seems to have disintegrated into chaos, ive started another because I have to ask if anyone else is having problems with dial-up over PPP with 10.2.6.
My problem seems to have started after I installed 10.2.6, I cant seem to get a reliable dial-up connection, often the connection hangs-up after a minute or so, often it doesnt connect at all, citing a modem error of some sort, and when it does connect it does so at very low speeds (14.4k).
Anyone else having similar issues?
PS: I am using a brand new dual 1.4Ghz G4 with the built in modem

I was having a problem connecting last night, I kept getting this message in Internet connection log "Remote message: Cannot open RADIUS session (no authentication response)^M^J".
I tried logging out, then back in. Restart etc, No joy there. Tonight, everything 'just works'. May have been a problem at my isp's end, but they are very reliable. Anyway, all is well now.
Try turning on verbose login in your ppp options, may give you a clue in the IC connection log.

I was having some trouble under 10.1 with PPP, low connection speeds, frequent disconnects etc. Last week I upgraded to 10.2.3, and suddenly it was ten times worse. Basically impossible to connect.
I managed to download the 10.2.6 upgrade in mac os 9! Installed it, and the connection problems seem to have vanished!
I saw on the apple/support discussion boards that a lot of other people were having these problems too, though.

Just came off high-speed Ethernet connection down to 56k, have 10.2.6, and I don't notice any problems so far.
Of note is that I've had massive issues since 10.0.x -> 10.1.x -> 10.2.x with PPP. However, it hasn't really been an issue since 10.2.[2|3] when they severely upgraded the PPP kext. Used to have disconnects, wierd lockups of PPP that could only be resolved by rebooting, and the external USB modem I have would get logded in an unresonding state, requiring a reboot (same thing with 2 different modems from 2 different manufacturers). However, I haven't had a problem since like 10.2.2 or .3 a stated above.
External Supra-Express 56k USB, G4 dual 450.

You may be having a problem with your Modem script. My brother had a similar problem recently with his 12" Powerbook. The Modem script that was selected was the v.92 script. We changed it to the v.90 script and everything works fine now.
To change your script, open your system prefernecs and click on the network panel. Choose "internal modem" from the "show" drop-down menu (the second drop-down menu from the top of the page). Click on the "modem" tab and select the right modem. You may see Apple Internal 56K Modem (v.92). If you do, try the Apple Internal 56K Modem (v.90) instead. Apply the changes and see how you get on.
Good luck,
Andrew Montague

yes, I wondered about that, it does seem to be working now, I also disabled the "send PPP echo" option, not sure if that really helped or not!
Thanks for the advice.
