Can anyone recommend a good program that detects and removes spyware?

i don't think you've got too much reason to be concerned either....but if you're looking for something to try out there is macscan , although i'd read the comments and keep in mind it's a beta.....

My spyware story:

I installed WMP this afternoon to try and play one file. I tried to play the file, and was hit with a pop up ad for some Asian porn site. I have never, ever had this happen before.

I removed all traces of WMP from my machine.

How does that make it spyware?

Perhaps not spyware in the strict sense, but WMP allowed that banner ad through my firewall, which was enough for me.

Well to be honest this is a 'feature' of Media player, you can set it to open URLs in the timeline - so it probably just opened the popup in your browser - so not your firewalls problem unless you use content filtering. A lot of adult webmasters use this technique figuring it's fair game if a person file shares their videos, then they deserve to be sent to the originating/sponsors website.

Don't know if this can be done in Quicktime, would have thought so - maybe you should delete it too?

You're a fool.

I can't stand the paranoid.

Why don't you just unplug your gay machine from the Internet and then we'll all be better off?
