Is there a way to change the default resolution in X11? I use X11 to rlogin into a Solaris server for administration. I would like the apps to take up less space on my desktop.
Any help would be appreciated.

Do you really need X in order to log on your solaris box ? why don't you use ssh and when needed export the display thru ssh.

Really? People who prefer vi are generally people who prefer to do it the hard way, but I'm in a good mood because I just came back from X-Men 2, so I'll give you a hint.
First of all, you need XDarwin rather than Apple's X11 - Apple only does rootless, and you can't set the X11 resolution separately in rootless mode. Second, try "man XDarwin", specifically the switch "-size"
-size width height
Sets the screen resolution for the X server to
use. Ignored in rootless mode.

No, the Apple-provided X11 cannot run in full-screen mode. As P says, you need XDarwin to accomplish a full-screen mode X11. It can be found here.
A question though - is anyone running both XDarwin and the Apple-provided X11 on the same machine? Not on the same time, of course, but can I have both installed without any major problems? It would be nice to have that full-screen option once in a while.
UPDATED! Ah, Google is your friend, eh? Found the answer here.
