Does OSX server 10.2 run on the newest eMac?

I haven't tried, but there is no reason why it would not work.

Just add enough RAM, and it will work OK.
However, if you plan to do workgroup file serving, you should consider a Desktop G4 (even 2nd hand) in which you add a pair of RAID HD on a 133 ATA PCI card.

Sure, runs fine. I've even run it on iBook 500's as test server machines.

I was thinking the same thing when those new eMacs came out... what a great web/mail server that would make!!!

You only need to buy OSX Server if you're serving lots of AppleShare (AFP) clients. The regular MacOS X can do all the same stuff as OSX Server for email, web serving, etc. Only AFP file sharing is limited in the client (to 10 users I think).
