Hi,

I was trying to do some adhoc chat to a friend of mine over 802.11 using Ichat Rendezvous.

there was no access point. In the past I've just opened Ichat, open Rendezvous, and we can pass data back and forth.. this last time I tried to log into Rendezvous via ichat, I got an error window...

"could not connect to Rendezvous"
Login Failed: Couldn't open session.

What does that mean?
If I don't have a real network connection, it gives me that. On my friends mac running 10.2.5 it just opens happily.,. like mine used too.. sob.. If I have an ethernet or 802.11 connection, it opens happily. shouldn't I be able to start up Rendezvous for adhoc chat fun?

Many many many thanks.. I get stuck without a net connect often.. depend on ichat now.

While troubleshooting, I went to the firewall tab on sharing. It says that another firewall program is currently running on my Mac..
Like hell.

I tried an ipfw flush.. we'll see if that doesn it..

grrr

Virtual PC caused the Firewall block.
Quitting virtual pc leaves one rule in tact ipfw after flushing:
65535 allow ip from any to any.
Firewall is off.

Rendezvous without ethernet cable plugged in on DHCP gives login failed error. With ethernet , and acquired ip, it works great. closer..
