I'm trying it out right now. It's not much faster than the IE for Mac OS X. It's pretty much an exact copy of MSN for windows. So if you don't like the interface you wouldn't like it on windows either.

It works well for people like my mom who like a simple "everything from one window" idea. Microsoft is NOT gearing this toward it's professional customers. The mail client seems to be fast, however web rendering isn't impressive. But then I'm on a 600mhz G4

But it seems to work as expected...

1) MSN Chat is Windows only. (so much for MSN with kids)
2) Its as slow as IE, which I am surprised at considering how long this was supposed to be in development.
3) CSS issues exist like in IE 5.2
4) Windows Media Player is still version 7.2.

Just a few issues that I've encountered.

I've been told that they are waiting to release the next version of MS Office and IE 6 for the new Apple processors. MSN Explorer that has already been built around IE 6 code will be rolled out then.

Just what I heard, no idea if it's true.

I think it looks worse than the PC version, but hey I am also near North Hollywood, Im in Miramar. What a small world, I go to the same college as Adam Betts and everywhere on the forum are Mac Users that I could easily have run into before.

Well, even though I don't have an MSN subscription, thank God you can have the icon only bounce once instead of continuously.
Or did they already release Messenger that did that? Anyhoo, I'm happy, that's one reason I never used MSN much.

That button bar looks like a row of unrelated floating objects,
objects that are completely detached from the window.

This seems like poor interface design to me. Web-sites are graphics
laden and busy already. The interface would be much better if it were
visually cohesive, subconsciouly recognized as one ojbect in
the real-world.

Then again... microsoft doesn't even portray window frames as single
objects in winXp... more like snap together plastic pieces in a cheap
toy airplane model.

I guess they're continuing the trend: Litter the screen with
disjointed widgets and objects but no logical or visual cohesion. Can
their visual/ineraction designers really be this clueless?

The interface should be ignored for reviewing purposes because they made it to be a "dashboard" and that buy GUI standards is allowance to have whatever interface outside of the os widgets. It's a great interface for novices, and it matches msn on windows which is a good thing for uniformity.

I'm guessing if i had a 1.4ghz powermac it would be perfect for my mother.

Is it actually possible to test this without choosing one of the 3 "offers"?
