At work I've got a Laser printer. I'm not able to print from Illustrator or Photoshop. I can print from a webbrowser. I don't know what this means. When I try to print I get one or two lines of characters and symbols.

At home I have an inkject, so I've never had to deal with this stuff before.

The printer can print from photoshop on the XP box next to me, just not from here.

I'm running 10.2.5 on a Dual 500.

I don't know if this is an OS issue or a software issue.

What kind of laserprinter is it?
Brand, model, etc.. PCL-based or Postscript?

In Photoshop/Illus print dialog, go to the output options. It'll say either ASCII or Binary. Change it to the other.
