I have two mac os x machines. On one, I'd like to automatically connect to a folder on the other machine at login/startup. Apple's web site says to do it this way:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.h...onID=anonymous|169945103

but this doesn't work for me. I've got the password in the keychain, and that part works great. I just want to mount the shared folder at login. I've found I can manually modify the login items prefs file (have to look up the name again), but this seems like a hack, and may not be editable/accessible on all machines I need to do this on.

Creating an alias to the shared folder and putting that in the login items does not work either. This is OS 10.2.3 with latest updates. Can anyone out there clue me in?

Thanks,
Jim

Speaking of other threads...

So I tried it again, just dragging the shared folder from the desktop to the login items. It works. So why wasn't it working before? The icon was appearing underneath the dock (directly under the trash can!), which was taking the entire width of the screen. So mystery solved.

Apple's method with favorites still doesn't work though :-/
