I like the way Apple's X11 is integrated into Aqua.

Me too, but I also like the way XDarwin is able to run in full-screen mode. During heavy Gimp-sessions I like to get rid of Quartz and Aqua and just see the Gimp!

I have only used X11, and I love it, but this feature of XDarwin is intriguing. Is it possible to have both installed at the same time?

Yes, very much so. I actually just found out how to do it. Check out this link.
