I have a friend that runs windows (but has a broadband connection) and downloaded mandrake linux PPC for me and burned me a copy of disk 1,2 and 3.

disk 2 and 3 mount fine; but disk 1 does not.

Is there a reason for this?

I have had him burn it twice and both discs won't mount.

It is Mandrake 9.1...

A bad burn maybe? I can read discs 1 and 2 of version 8.2, so yours should be readable too. See if he can burn disc 1 again maybe.

Make sure that the checksum is correct after the ISO's have been downloaded. the checksum is there for a reason...
I have downloaded and installed Mandrake 9.1 for PPC on my BW G3, so I know they work.

We still haven't figured out how to deal with the ISO problem...

Anyway I could get you to send me a good disc 1?
