Hi!

I recently bought a new G4, that is Mac OS 9 bootable. Now i want to install mac os 9 on this machine. is that possible? i know that i have to hit the "c" key on the keyboard that he boots from cd. when starting the mac os 9.2 system i cannot install it for some reason. when i don't boot from cd mac os x starts and when i want to klick an the 9.2 cd he always wants to install the classic thing...

i know that mac os x is better but it's hard to explain the new one in my company

You may not be able to run a retail 9.2 install disk if it's the last Mirrored Drive Doors Mac. I think the only way to get OS 9 installed is from the software restore CD's it shipped with due to the fact that they made minor revisions to OS 9 specifically for that machine after they stopped updating the 9.2 retail CD's.

You might be able to drag-and-drop it using Pacifist to extract it from the installer.pkg.

What model exactly do you have, and was OS 9 not installed on the machine when you bought it, and do you have all the disks it shipped with?

I am not in the company at the moment, so i can't say which model type it is. On Monday morning i'll post it.

When i bought it , mac os 9 wasn't on the computer. when i turned the g4 on i had to insert the mac os x cds that he go on.

i have some cds with the new computer.
and i only have mac os 9.2 from my older g4.
