Help replacing characters in file names

I would like to copy my iTunes folder to my WinXP machine for backup, but need an automated way to replace all invalid Windows filename characters like ? | , from my iTunes files and folders.

Anyone know Applescript enough to point me in the right direction to write something like this? I have never written an Applescript before.

You can also use "/Library/Scripts/Finder Scripts/Replace Text in Item Names.scpt"
