If you're the admin of your computer, click once on the file, hit "Command+I", and in the dialog box click on the "Ownership and Permissions" triangle (if that section isn't showing already)... click on the lock button, enter in your password, then modify the permissions as necessary (in your case, you probably want to either change the "Owner" from "system" to yourself, or if you're already listed on one of the lines, change your Access to "Read and Write".
