I came into work this morning and found that my locations and network preferences had totally disappeared. I could put them in again but as soon as I close the System Preferences they go again.

I thought it could be connected with a file called com.apple.PrefPane.Network.000a9590198e.plist which seems to disappear, but replacing it doesn't solve the problem.

I'm OK as long as I don't close system preferences.

Running OSX 10.2.6 on and iBook 900Mhz with 384MB.

...got the exact same problem in 10.1.4 except it has never worked therefore I'm stuck running dsl in 9.1. A clean install might be in order but I no longer have the X install cd.
