Here is a problem I’ve encountered, and can’t figure out the solution…

The program “Installer” located in Applications -> Utilities, doesn’t work any more. When I try to open or install a .pkg (or .mpkg) file, the Installer opens, but doesn’t do anything. If while in the installer I select “open” and then choose the .pkg file, nothing happens.

I’ve tried the usual suspects- repaired permissions, ran disk warrior (not the new one, hasn’t arrived in the mail yet), etc. Not sure where to go from here. I’d hate to have to reinstall OS X.2, lose all of my settings, and then install the X.2.6 combo installer.

So is there any way to just reinstall the installer program from the Jag disk?

The same thing has been happening to me.

I've tried manually opening the package through File > Open, dragging the file to Installer, etc. After a while of just trying different things over and over eventually it works.

Anyone know a solution?

So, I was able to open the installer located in the utilities folder, and get it to work. Why is that? Because the default (why?) was trying to use Intaller 1.2, when the actual program is Installer 1.3.2. Ahhhhhh.

Now if I could just get apple remote desktop to actually do something, i'd be living large!
