I play Yahoo Pool everyday at school on the PCs (when I'm supposed to be working) and it runs normally. The animation is fast and responsive. Then I come home to my iMac 800 512MB ram OS 10.2.6 and it runs so slow!! It's really annoying! Safari, Explorer, Chimera, same story. Slow java Yahoo pool. Does Apple plan on fixing this in the future?

It's a feature. Apple decided that shouldn't waste anymore time playing Yahoo Pool...a terrible game.

Java = suckage on a Mac.
Flash et al = suckage on a Mac.

It's just "one of those things".

My little sister plays yahoo pool both on my Mac G4 350 and her PC P4 2.5. She has never complained on the speed of Java games on my Mac, in fact she loves nothing but playing cool Java Games when she visits me.

Java 1.4 on Safari is very good, in my experience.

Actually Flash and Shockwave perform very well in Safari but not Chimera.

flash sucks on mac. you'd know this if you try the same site on a windows machine side by side.

Java seems to still kinda suck. That virtual pool actually used to be a mac application then was ported to windows then turned to java. Used to be really cutting edge stuff i remember when most computer couldn't run it. And now it's just a java applet. Good times.

Flash in Safari = 25 fps
Flash in OmniWeb 4.5 = 30 fps

I've never had problems with Flash since Safari came out.

Why exactly does Flash suck on Mac?

Methinks you and cipher are still using crummy old Chimera/Camino.

It pretty much depends on your browser. I find pretty much all java and flash applettes work fine in IE, since IE is pretty much the industry standard, so most java applettes are written for IE.

Applets are not written for a browser - it runs separately.

It doesn't but if someone on a PC can test the Flash frame rate, I'd like to hear the results: http://www.moock.org/webdesign/flash...eedometer.html

It's obvious that Safari caps the speed at 25 and OmniWeb at 30. Is there a browser on the PC side that allows for more?

30 fps for Flash animation is fluid. Can the people that say that Flash sucks on Mac please explain why it sucks? I'm watching Flash content from www.threebrain.com with zero performance problems and zero issues.

Both Flash and Java are PITA-slow on my comp (impossible to play pool) and flash movies lag the entired system, even with no other apps open, etc.

It's a pain, really.
