I showed a friend how easy it is to make a new user.
I then showed the good thing about privacy: well, actually I was going to show that. I logged in as the new user (which I made non-admin) and to my shock saw that this new user could see all my folders and content of it.
However, this new user couln't see the folders & content of another user

I then deleted this user, after logging in as root, and logged out again. I saw all the possible users who can log in, and the new user which I just deleted kept showing up in the list of users. I loggin in as my normal admin account, and saw this deleted user in the Users panel under Sustem Preferences

I repaired permissions as the admin user and as root, but what ever I delete etc, this user is showing up all the time again.

What am I doing wrong?

firstly, here is a previous thread that deals with what you are talking about - deleting an undeletable user.

secondly, don't know about the new user being able to see your files and not those of another user. should only be able to see the Public and Sites dir of other users. is it reproduceable?

The fact that a new user can see my folders and content can be reproduced.

The fact that the new user cannot be deleted seems not reproducable.

Going to try the terminal-trick. However, it's strange that this occurs.

Logged in as Root, or starting up in OS 9, I cannot find the user name or anything related to this user, so don't have a clue how to delete it from OS 9 f.i.

Thanks for the link though.

EDIT: Netinfo Manager worked! Thanks!!!

What are the permissions for your home directory? If it's world readable, it's world readable.

Yep, I've changed that, so now it's closed as well. Guess I myself have been playing with it once and didn't put it back to the original settings...

isn't your home dir supposed to be world-readable? mine is readable but with all folders inside (save Public and Sites) having no world read-write permissions.
