I have a KDC server setup on our networking doing login window authentication. My question is, is there a setting that will allow applications to auth off of kerberos also? For example the lock icons in the System Preferences windows that allow you to gain administrator priveleges, or when you install a application that requires admin privs. Any ideas if this can do done? To me it doesn't make sure to allow authentication from the login window and then have to use a different password to auth on the system when making changes. Thanks for the help.

Not yet. However, Apple has stated that they are working towards that. In fact, the goal is to make Kerberos the preferred authentication for all services on Mac OS X.

That is great news. That will give OS X the ability to integrate into UNIX/Windows Active Server enviroments flawlessly. Do you know of any articles related to this on the web? Thanks for your input.

Eric Zelenka, Apple Product Line Manager for Server Software, said it in the OS X Server Jaguar webcast at http://macosxlabs.org/webcasts/2002-...ver/index.html
