This is really pissing me off. Upon restart my Documents folder in my home folder is gone without a trace. Before I restarted I was deleting stuff FROM the Documents folder but I am sure I did not delete the folder itself. The reason I was deleting items from that folder is because I have about 1.5 GB of disk space left, yet after running my computer for a day OS X claims that I only have about 500 MB left, which is not true. At this point my Pismo starts grinding to a hault. This should not be the case. I am only running 4 applications at a time and one of them is the Finder! I was trying to free up hard drive space so that my computer would be usable again but I couldn't get enough of it free so I decided to restart. Upon restart I have my 1.5GB of free disk space again but my Documents folder is gone. This is insane! I tried using Norton Un-Erase that I have in OS 9 to try and find the folder but it doesn't see it. It's nowhere to be found. Where did all my files go?

Hmmm...my first thought was that your disappearing disk space was due to OSX virtural memory, but judging from your disappearing Documents folder, you might be looking as some sort of directory corruption...You should run Disk Utility (or Disk Warrior if you have it--never been a big Norton fan---and definately dont run an old OS9 version) Also you might want to use Tinkertool to enable seeing invisible files...its possible your Documents folder is still there, but somehow the bit that governs invisiblity got turned on..

open a Terminal window.

Type:

ls -la ~

Is "Documents" listed there?

This will confirm if it is really gone, or just not being displayed by the Finder.
