How do I delete an application (looks like a sheet of paper with folded corner on upper right side) that's on my desktop?

It apparently is something left over from an internet graphic/clipart download.
Deleting to the trash always brings up the following message:

"Preparing move to "Trash". The item "Crosses is being used by another task right now. (Other tasks include moving, copying, or emptying the Trash.)
Try again when the other task is complete."

There is absolutely nothing (that I know of) going on that should prevent me from dumping this item. I have force quit everything yet the message still appears. I also can't open it and know it's not worth keeping.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Log out, then log back in. Then delete.

Oh yeah.

Hello, and welcome to the forums. This really belongs to the OS X forum so I will move it there so if this solution doesn't work, then other people there can probably remedy the problem.

mindwaves,

Thanks for the welcome and quick reply. Unfortunately, logging out failed to remove the item and the same issue still exists. Trying to open the application brings up the message: "There is no default application specified to open the document "Crosses".

I apologize if I placed the question in the wrong forum but the description listed under software Mac OS X seemed to be the correct place for my question.

Yes, I am very new to the Apple system after 10 years of being incredibly good with the Windows OS. I absolutely love my new Power Mac G4. What a change from the very ancient Apple I owned years ago that was self contained in one complete unit.

Ann
