i had a big problem saturday: i was going to boot into os9 to make some adjustments to make classic run better; i changed the startup disk to os9 and hot restar; half way through shutting down, safari wouldn't quit so the restart stopped; i quit safari and restarted again; and got as os9 looking flashing question mark; ran disk first aid off my jaguar disk and it said all was ok; but the computer could not find a system file it seemed; it would only boot onto the cd even while i held down the x key.

so i reinstalled jaguar, saving the old system. i've copied over the extra alert sounds and fonts and such from the old system files onto the new one.

now, i want to to trash the old system files, but i'm afraid something i'll need tomorrow will vanish.

advice?

The files in the Previous System folders don't affect your current system in any way. So go ahead and trash the Previous System folders.

granted they don't affect the current system...

i just worried there was a trap for the unwary lurking.

is there anything nonobvious to be copied over to the new system that i might not have thought of?

like the extra fonts and system alerts.

it makes sense that i should just trash it but it feels wrong.
